EGL USA upgrades Laser Inscription services and offers 72 hour turnaround in LA

EGL USA, known for its state-of-the-art diamond branding service, is now offering 72-hour turnaround in Los Angeles for its inscription services. Diamonds do not have to be certified by EGL USA to benefit from this service.

In July EGL USA's L.A. office installed "cold laser" inscription equipment, which provides the safest way to inscribe diamonds or any gemstone, according to Mark Gershburg, Director of EGL USA. "Unlike other lasers that carbonize diamonds by a highly thermal process, the cold laser will not penetrate the diamond and cause internal damage. Therefore, we can guarantee that our customers' gemstones will not be chipped or fractured," said Gershburg.

EGL USA is the only commercial lab in L.A. to offer cold laser technology.

In addition, EGL USA is the first laboratory in the world to install the newest, most sophisticated diamond branding equipment on the market today, the PhotoScribe LMS 2500, a cold laser system that was recently purchased for its New York City headquarters. It offers twice the power and speed of the previous generation, according to the manufacturer, PhotoScribe Technologies, the world's largest manufacturer of diamond laser inscription equipment.

"EGL USA is the only lab to have this new equipment," said Gershburg. "It will help us meet the growing demands of our diamond branding service.

"The EGL USA branding service can safely laser certificate numbers, text, logos, line art, 2-D barcodes and even photographs into the surface of a diamond or gemstone-or any material known to man.

EGL USA, which has also has offices in Toronto and Vancouver, was the first lab to identify diamonds through surface imprinting. For more information, in New York contact Sharon Wanounou at 347-242-0442. In L.A. the contact is Maya Aguila at 213-534-2223.
